As a part of my internship, I went to the ministry to see how its system works, and there, I was introduced to a couple of employees there, “She an intern who wants to see how the legal system works”
“Don’t study law!” says one.
“Don’t study law!” says another.
“Why?” I ask.
“It’s too hard!”
“When my daughter tells me she wants to be a judge, I tell her you should just stay at home and clean the house instead!”
I remember at those statement slapped me right in the face, my eyes widened and my eyebrows went upwards. I quickly became angry, and it burned inside me as I tried not to let it show on my face, and forced myself to be as calm as possible when I was discussing the topic with that person. I don't remember talking much because I knew I would blow up any second. Calm down Sarah! Calm down! My mind was racing with thoughts. I don't agree with them, just because something is hard doesn't mean we shouldn't pursue it. And girls definitely shouldn't just stay at home and mop the floors, do the dishes and dust the countertops!!! We have potential too!!!
My all time subject of argument. Your words will change things, people, and communities; that I promise.
